A-WOW International Girls Leadership Initiative (A-WOW IGLI)

(2012 Spring/Summer Program)

Ambassadors Leadership and Development

A-WOW IGLI hosts an annual spring and Summer Leadership and Development Program. Over a span of two-months, twenty-five selected candidates will spend time learning and developing leadership and interpersonal skills. Each program consist of orientation and registration, pre/post-assessments, mentoring and coaching, class assignments, group projects and networking.

 

A-WOW IGLI is a not- for- profit organization established to help develop personal leadership awareness and enhance skills development of emerging girls ages, 16-21. Our aim is to empower and enrich irrespective of social, religious or ethnic backgrounds. We provide innovative learning, education and leadership development of a higher quality.

 

OBJECTIVES

 

PREREQUISITES

Personal interest and commitment to help improve the community and quality of life through past, present and future activities.

A willingness to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program requirements, which requires the full support of their sponsoring business or organization.

 

Each candidate may request sponsorship from respective business or organization that is willing to commit to the requirements of the program. The identified candidates should be ones who are most likely to utilize their leadership abilities for the long-term benefit of society.


AMBASSADORS ADVANTAGES

A-WOW IGLI builds confidence and motivates individuals to become active leaders involved in promoting positive change. Our ambassadors will develop their awareness and understanding of the challenges youth are facing locally, nationally and global. They will establish valuable contacts to build their personal and business network within the community. Most importantly, Businesses, Communities, Organizations and A-WOW Ambassadors will experience immediate benefits from increased involvement as well as, reap future benefits from the collective commitment to effective leadership by A-WOW Ambassadors. Candidates who satisfy all the program requirements will be awarded the A-WOW IGLI Certification of Completion for Leadership and Development and receive an invitation to A-WOW IGLI 2012 Annual World Summit.

 

TERMS of ACCEPTANCE

Participation in A-WOW IGLI, centers on time commitments and individual participation. Commitments involve six full-day sessions per program (spring and fall), networking events, assignments for each class and completion of A-WOW IGLI Leadership Initiative. Applicants must be able to fulfill program attendance in order to complete leadership requirements. If a candidate misses more than 6 hours, she would not have met the requirements to receive A-WOW IGLI leadership certification.

Identify, and empower potential leaders, from various schools, organizations and regions to assume active leadership roles throughout their community.

Promote and sustain dialogue among emerging community leaders

Offer an exceptional educational experience with an emphasis on leadership skills and development, multiculturalism, and crucial social and community issues.

Collaborate with universities, schools, employers and sponsoring organizations and help identify potential areas to form strategic alliances.

Provide opportunities for corporate/organizational community involvement and visibility.

The program is a starting point for girls and young women, who have shown leadership and initiative in their school, universities, communities or organizations, but have had rare opportunities to develop those skills.
